Large Scale Monoclonal Antibody Production

Introduction

There are two main ways to produce large-scale monoclonal antibodies, one is the ascites preparation method, and the other is the transfer bottle culture method.

 

Ascites Preparation Method: Hybridoma cell lines are cultured in vitro to a certain concentration, and then the hybridoma cells are injected into the abdominal cavity of mice to produce ascites, from which monoclonal antibodies are purified. Each mouse can produce 3~8mL of ascites, and the antibody content can reach 1~10mg/mL. the period of ascites preparation is 3~4 weeks. Ascites preparation method features with low cost, high yield and fast time, which is the main large-scale antibody production method at present.

 

Transflask Culture Method: Hybridoma cells are cultured in large scale in vitro, and the antibody is purified from the culture medium. Antibody content reaches 20~80mg/L. Transflask preparation method has the advantages of high antibody quality, no mouse heteroprotein, and no animal virus, etc.
